Industries - Candy and Cocoa

Cocoa Tree

NEWS! Most domestic and imported candies already have lead levels of 0.1 ppm or less. Certain candies imported from Mexico, however, have higher levels, apparently as a result of ingredients such as chili powder and salt.

Imported Candy and Cocoa are likely to be targeted by the FDA for detention for controlled or restricted substances, such as Food Colors, Lead, Cyclamate, Pesticides or Aflatoxin. They are subject to detention for Light Filth and Macro Filth and there may also be a concern about certain pathogens such as Salmonella spp., Listeria monocytogenes or Staphylococcus aureus.

Sampling plans vary depending on the commodity and the analysis required. Proper sampling will save you time and money. We have samplers in many ports of entry around the country. We verify the sampling plan and testing protocol with the FDA Official in charge before having the plan executed.
